Festive cheese board border (Printable Version)

A stylish holiday border with cheese triangles and green grapes for an eye-catching board.

# What You'll Need:

→ Cheese

01 - 8.8 oz semi-firm cheese (e.g., Gouda, Edam, or Emmental), well chilled

→ Fruit

02 - 5.3 oz small green seedless grapes, washed and thoroughly dried

# How-To Steps:

01 - Cut the cheese into thin, triangular slices approximately 2–2.4 inches long and 0.4 inches wide at the base to mimic stylized pine trees.
02 - Place the cheese triangles along all four edges of the serving platter with the points facing outward to create a pine tree border.
03 - Position small green grapes between and around the cheese triangles to fill gaps and enhance the tree-like effect.
04 - Continue arranging cheese and grapes until the entire perimeter is decorated with the pine tree motif.
05 - Add your selection of cheeses, charcuterie, crackers, or other desired items to the center of the platter.

# Tips for Success:

01 -
  • It takes just 15 minutes but looks like you spent hours planning—your guests will be genuinely impressed
  • The festive presentation makes people slow down and actually enjoy the beauty of food before diving in
  • It's completely flexible; you can use whatever cheeses and fruits you have on hand and it will still look stunning
02 -
  • The cheese absolutely must be cold or those triangular points will crumble and break. I can't stress this enough—it's the difference between a beautiful presentation and a frustrating mess.
  • Dry grapes are non-negotiable. Wet grapes will slip and slide as you arrange them, undoing your careful placement. A quick pat with paper towels takes 30 seconds and saves your entire arrangement.
03 -
  • Invest in a really sharp chef's knife if you don't have one—it makes the difference between clean triangular cuts and raggedy, frustrating attempts. A dull knife will crush the cheese instead of slicing it.
  • If you're making this ahead, keep the cheese slices and assembled board covered loosely with plastic wrap in the fridge. The grapes can sit separately and be arranged just before serving so they look their freshest.
