Overnight Oats With Chia Seeds (Printable Version)

Creamy oats soaked overnight with chia seeds and yogurt

# What You'll Need:

→ Base

01 - 1 cup rolled oats
02 - 1 cup unsweetened milk (dairy or plant-based)
03 - ½ cup Greek yogurt
04 - 2 tablespoons chia seeds
05 - 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
06 - ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

→ Toppings

07 - ½ cup fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
08 - 1 small banana, sliced
09 - 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
10 - 1 tablespoon nut butter (peanut, almond, or cashew)

# How-To Steps:

01 - In a medium bowl or large jar, combine oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well blended and no dry pockets remain.
02 - Cover the container and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight, allowing the oats and chia seeds to fully absorb the liquid and soften to a creamy consistency.
03 - In the morning, stir the mixture well. If the oats are too thick, add a splash of milk and stir to reach your preferred consistency.
04 - Top with fresh berries, banana slices, chopped nuts, or nut butter as desired. Serve chilled straight from the refrigerator.

# Tips for Success:

01 -
  • Breakfast is waiting for you instead of you waiting for breakfast
  • The texture transformation from regular oatmeal is honestly magical
02 -
  • The first time I forgot to stir well before bed, I had dry oats sitting on top of yogurt pudding in the morning
  • Chia seeds really do need that full 8 hours to work their magic, shortcuts dont work here
03 -
  • Make double batches in separate containers so you are not starting from scratch every two days
  • The yogurt amount is forgiving, more makes it tangier and thicker, less makes it lighter
